So by now, you guys are used to my two-years-late blog posts. Here's another one! I've been wanting to share this wedding for so long now, and I'm so glad I'm finally getting to it! Hope and Nathan got married almost exactly a month after James and I, so it was so sweet to be at their wedding as brand-newlyweds! James and our sweet friend Ellis assisted me at this wedding, and they were such a big help! Hope and Nathan had a GORGEOUS fall wedding in a state park in Middle Tennessee. It was also COLD. Like, 40 degrees. I don't know how Hope survived the day in her strapless dress, but she was stunning! The leaves at this location were everything you dream of when you think of a fall wedding. SERIOUSLY. So dreamy. This image of Hope's dad seeing her for the first time on her wedding day is still one of my favorites I've captured. So much emotion. And her bridesmaids' reactions were so cute! But I mean, obviously. Because this gal was GLOWING all day. How beautiful is she?! So here is where I'll interject and probably lose a lot of friends, but I have to admit I know very little about Harry Potter. I mean, I started reading the books when I was in elementary school and I really loved them, but then I got to one that was just a little too long and intimidating for my ten-year-old self, and I just never picked them up again. I know, I know. And I'm SORRY. But I'm just bein' honest. Anyways, Harry Potter is super important to these two, and even played a part in their engagement (which I will definitely have a blog post about at some point, because they were adorable) and in their wedding! Here's Nathan's "Head Boy" pin that Hope got for him to wear on their big day. Hope was such a radiant bride, and this ceremony was so sweet. Nathan's dad officiated, which made the emotion so raw and beautiful. Also, as you'll see below, he work a HOGWARTS ROBE. I told you, these two are super into Harry Potter. It was awesome, so unique, and so THEM– everything a wedding should be! Almost 1.5 years later and I'm still not over the leaves on these trees. More of those Harry Potter details I mentioned! And that beautiful cake! Hope and Nathan were such a fun and down-to-earth couple and I loved being a part of this day!
Thanks for trusting me to capture these memories, Mr. and Mrs. Powell, and I hope married life is the best adventure for you two!

There are a lot of mixed opinions when it comes to first looks, but I am personally a fan. They allow the bride and groom to have a few quiet moments together before the day becomes a blur, and they can help alleviate some of the stress and jitters that come on this big day! On that note, this has to be the most precious first look ever. Drew was SO nervous to see Allyson for the first time on their wedding day. It was the sweetest thing. Still so emotional over seeing his beautiful bride! I loved assisting at this sweet wedding! Drew and Allyson's love is so evident, and I loved being a part of their big day! Back in September (before I was trying to maintain a blog!), I had the privilege of assisting at one of the most beautiful weddings I've been to! I assisted Jud Davis, along with Alanna Wallace (two very talented individuals- definitely check out their work) at a gorgeous wedding. The details and colors here were breathtaking! These little girls were so precious! I LOVE how the bright florals in this wedding pop against the black bridesmaid's dresses. This bride was absolutely stunning, with the most beautiful dress and cathedral-length veil. Most of my favorite shots are the completely unposed moments between the posed ones. Genuine moments are always the best, in my opinion. I normally wouldn't post a TON of photos from the reception, but this one was way too fun. There were some really sweet moments between the bride and groom. And between the bride and her father. And then there were some really fun moments. This crowd knew how to party. There was even a live band! These guys were way too cool not to share. I loved the experience of this wedding, which was so different than most that I've been a part of. Many thanks to Jud for letting me tag along! I've known Kaylen for almost six (!!) years now after we were randomly assigned as suite mates our freshman year of college. That honestly doesn't feel like that long ago, and I feel like we were just babies back then – talking about boys and getting into all kinds of shenanigans, – so it's hard to believe that my husband is officiating her wedding and I'll be her matron of honor in a few months! I remember Kaylen talking about some soccer-playing guy named Jordan from back home that she was dating when we first met at school. I never met him and stopped hearing about him consistently after a while, but through the years his name continued to pop up occasionally. Now, these high school sweethearts are getting married, and I could not be happier about this perfect match. That's enough personal narrative from me now! Enjoy these photos of this beautiful couple! I was super excited when Kaylen agreed to do her engagement shoot in a local nursery (shoutout to Four Seasons Nursery in Jackson– check them out for all your plant and landscaping needs if you're in West Tennessee!) This shoot was an exciting new challenge for me. I tend to get comfortable in certain locations and branching out can be intimidating but is, of course, so necessary for growth! I had a ton of fun shooting in this new environment and am so happy with how everything turned out. How beautiful are these two? Seriously. We switched it up a bit and headed to a state park just down the road for a few more shots. I probably won't have a blog about their wedding since I'll be in it (which I'm even more excited about!) but I WILL have a blog with Kaylen's bridals, which will obviously be stunning. BUT you'll have to come back sometime after September to see that. ;) I'm so excited for these two and the lifetime of happiness ahead of them. Now excuse me while I go get sappy over pictures of Kaylen and I in college. |
